John is a 1966 graduate of Wellston High School.  John Pelletier moved to Wellston in 1965 at the beginning of his senior year in high school. Helped start the family business the “Ponderosa Orchard” with his late parents Horace Pelletier and Vivian Pelletier.  John is one of the founding members of the Wellston OHILLCO Society and is currently serves on the Wellston OHILLCO Society Board and the OHILLCO Society’s Community Improvement group.  He also holds a list of titles in the Wellston Community. Including Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Wellston for the last 27 years, former member and past President of the Wellston Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, current President of Jackson County Habitat for Humanity (Millard Fuller Center for Housing), current Vice President/Treasure of Wellston Ministerial Association, President of Wellston Alumni Association, President of Wellston JVAC of Jackson County Board, a board member of the Jackson County United Fund and board member of the Jackson County Community Foundation/Foundation For Appalachian Ohio.

Along with his many community projects he was a broadcaster for nearly 53 years. John started his career in radio in 1968 as an announcer on WKOV-AM and the majority of five decades in broadcasting was spent locally with short stents at WCHI in Chillicothe, WBNS in Columbus and WYRO in Gallipolis. John also was the very first local Play-by-Play sportscaster to broadcast all of Wellston’s Football and basketball games “live” (home and away) from 1971 to 1986. He also broadcast the first “live” Wellston High School baseball state tournament games plus founded and hosted the longest running local “Live” sports talk show…The Bob Willis Sports Show. However, a large portion of his broadcasting career involved sales and management.

John recently retired from Total Media as General Sales Manager in July of 2021.  John and his wife Connie have five children Jona Bates (Jeffery), Michael Pelletier (Melissa), Ryan Pelletier (Ashley), Britney Pelletier and grandchildren Cameron (Jamie), Conner, John Taylor, Tyler, Liam, Aaliyah, Jayce, Hayden, Rylan, Joel, and Barton.
